Højere Gearing i +8 Salisbury bagtøj
Fremsendt af Wilfried M. Kammerl
Dear Morgan-Colleages
I send this request to all of you, especially thouse who have a Morgan +8, built 1968-1978.
This cars are fitted with the Salisbury-Rearaxle Typ 7HA Phase 2. The normal ratio of Crownwheel and Pinion (CWP)is 3.31:1 (43/13 teeth, fitted with a limited slip differential. Four years ago CWP of my +8, Chasis-No: R7479, built in 1974/75 went defectiv.
So I tried to find spares, but until now without any success. Now I found a factory which is able to reproduce this CWP after technical-drawings with worldfamous Oerlikon CNC cutting machines. The photogrametric measurement and the drawings will be done by a professor of the technical univesity of landshut, bavaria. The factory is producing CWP for a lot of important car-factories and for the worldmarket. My question to you is, is there anybody under you, who has problems with his rearaxle too, and would be interested to get away any noise or other malfunction of his CWP. My intention is, to get a longer ratio, 3.07:1 (43/14 teeth), to depress the engine in torquing in the red region and to lower the gasoline consumtion in highspeed crusing. We here in Germany have no speedlimits on the motorways, so it´s very good to make this change in the ratio of CWP. At the moment, there are 20 pairs in request by 2 foreign dealers of Morgan Cars and 1 pair for myself. Please let me know if you would like to take part on this new production of CWP. The sum of pairs makes the price for what the parts are to get from the factory. The Austrian Morgan Importer/Dealer is involved in this intention and I think he will do the delivery/shipment when we order the parts.
Looking foreward to answers of you, with best Regards Wilfried M. Kammerl
